Walt Disney - 1926 - Clara Cleans Her Teeth
Description: Walt Disney's silent era produced two educational films for Dr. Thomas B. McCrum of Walt Disney's native Kansas City. His first was Tommy Tucker's Tooth made in 1922 during his Laugh-O-Gram days. Then in 1926, after Walt relocated to Hollywood and was well on his way with the Alice in Cartoonland series, Dr. Thomas B. McCrum requested a second film, which was titled Clara Cleans Her Teeth. I was very lucky to have obtained this rare piece of Disney history (that some believe lost). Seems how I anticipate questions regarding how I acquired it, I'll explain here: For some time now, I have been collecting various Disney films of the silent era via the computer; downloading and sorts. One torrent caught my eye, having all the surviving Laugh-O-Grams and this along with them. They seemed to be edited from a television presentation of some kind; some had narrative and background info, and others simply had musical scores, and some, like this one, were entirely silent. Beyond that, I really couldn't say what my source is.

Hero Worship - The imagination of Stan Lee
Description: This is the fifth entry in the series "Another Fabulous Lee." Stan Lee is a legendary comic genius who has not only invented some of the more memorable comics in the business (Spider-Man, the Avengers, Thor, Dr. Strange, the X-Men, Silver Surfer, Daredevil, Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, and the Fantastic Four for example), but he is also credited with introducing the human element to modern comics, giving us super-heroes with normal flaws. Born in New York as Stanley Lieber in 1922, he got his start in comics at the age of 17. By the time he was 20, he was an editor. But then World War II came along, and Lee spent his time writing army training manuals and illustrating them. Following the war, Lee's parent comic company, Timely, became Atlas and entered a shaky period of low sales. As Lee's writing improved, so did sales, and by 1961 the group was renamed Marvel Comics. Working with such superb artists as Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, Lee created a huge percentage of the superhero characters in the Marvel stable. In 1972, Lee became publisher and editorial director of the group. The rest is history, with Marvel leading the way into a new era of superhero comics. Music is "Songe d'une Nuit du Sabbat (Dream of a Witches' Sabbath)," from Symphonie Fantastique, by Hector Berlioz.
