Description: Inspired by Dstoevskys 'Crime and Punishment', R obert Brssons Pickpocket tells the story of Michel (Martin Lsalle), a solitary young man who embarks upon a life of petty theft. Plying his trade on the city streets, racetracks and Mo system of Paris, Michel hones his sleight-of-hand skills to perfection and becomes consumed by his escalating addiction. But his activities alienate him from his few friends, while attracting the attention of a police inspector and a professional criminal (Kassagi), who recruits him into his band of thieves. Brssons use of non-professional actors, pared-down cinematic style and meticulously choreographed scenes of audacious robberies lend the film a remarkable and thrilling sense of authenticity. Emotionally restrained yet ultimately spiritually moving, many critics consider Pickpocket to be Brssons

The Greyhound Bus Killer
Description: REMINDER: As usual, a crime of this nature is an excuse for every frustrated racist and sadistic creep to come out of the woodwork demanding the death penalty, the repeal of gun control, stricter immigration laws and the right to lynch and torture. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. Canada has abolished the death penalty on July 14, 1976. The last execution in Canada was on December 11, 1962. Canada banned the death penalty because of fears about wrongful convictions, concerns about the state taking the lives of individuals, and uncertainty about the death penalty's role as a deterrent for crime. The 1959 case of Steven Truscott, who was just 14 years old when convicted of a murder that he did not commit, was a significant impetus (although certainly not the only one) toward the abolition of capital punishment. (On August 28, 2007, Truscott was acquitted of the charges by the Ontario Court of Appeal.) No civilized democracy that has abolished it has ever reinstated it. Asking for it is like asking for murder in Canada. So don't. From CTV (Canada AM). A man - Vince Weiguang Li, 40, of Edmonton - stabs and beheads his fellow passenger, 22 year-old Tim McLean, with a Bowie knife. This is the first video on the subject on YouTube. Canadian news outfits are not only slow, they put an embargo on their videos. It took 12 hours for this to reach YouTube. The Robbery (www.nugob.org)
Description: Crime doesn't pay? Nah! It always pays for someone. This is a student work done in 2003 at the Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT). I had heaps of fun creating the story, drawing, compositing and recording the audio. The film was screened on public events in Australia, Austria and Switzerland and had a pretty amazing audience response, it was also shown on an Austrian and a New Zealand TV show, so I thought it would be worthwhile to share it with some more people as opposed to be a dust collector in my archive. Enjoy! More details here: portfolio.nugob.org www.nugob.org If you happen to understand German here is my diploma thesis on story and character development and low budget animation ralph.nugob.org
